The Whiteside County Sheriff's Office released the results of two investigations involving child sex offenders being involved with coaching youth sports in and around the Whiteside County area.

Officials say 39-year-old Philip J. Plattenberger of Mt Carroll, Ill., was arrested on November 20, 2012 and charged with a child sex offender being present in a park and a child sex offender being associated with a program exclusively directed towards children under the age of 18.

The charges result from an investigation involving an anonymous tip about Plattenberger coaching a youth baseball team in the Fulton, Ill., area.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office says Plattenberger was convicted as a child sex offender while a teacher at Eastland High School in Lanark, Illinois where his victim attended in 2000.

The second incident involves 38-year-old Scott A. Eyrich of Morrison, Ill. The Whiteside County Sheriff's Office received a tip from the Illinois Attorney General's Office Hotline that Eyrich was involved in coaching youth football in Fulton, Ill.

After an investigation, Eyrich was charged with a child sex offender being associated with a program exclusively directed towards children under the age of 18.

Eyrich was originally convicted in St. Clair County, Michigan of attempted criminal sexual assault with force. The victim was seven years old. Eyrich moved to Carroll Co. and this past summer, moved to Whiteside Co.
