There could be an early Christmas present sitting under the tree, or maybe on the dresser, for some lottery players. The estimated Powerball jackpot prize grew to $550 million for Wednesday night's drawing. The record-breaking prize is pushing sales in the 42 states that offer Powerball tickets, including Iowa and Illinois.

In the Quad Cities, ticket sales are keeping store clerks busy and has buyers dreaming of what they would do with the millions.

"Yeah, I'd definitely buy a house. Buy my mom a house," said one customer at the Shell station on W. River Dr. in Davenport.

"I'd buy a motor home. I drive for a living, and just tour the country for a while," said another.

"Land, I'd buy land. I would try to get as much land as possible," another customer said.

"I know what I'd do! I'd fix the streets of Davenport," joked another.

The odds of someone winning the entire prize are about one in 175,000. But Powerball officials say they now believe there is a 75 percent chance that the winning combination of numbers will be drawn Wednesday night. You can watch the live drawing on KWQC-TV6 during the News at 10.
