They wheel their way through the hallways at the Kahl Home in Davenport. Pat Curta and Peggy Andriano bring the hospitality cart to residents at the nursing home. The cart is filled with candy, crackers, and other goodies for the residents to purchase.

Pat and Peggy are volunteers. They are members of the Catholic Service Board. Making the rounds, the two women smile, and offer friendly hellos to the residents they meet.

The CSB is more than 60 years old. In the early 1950's, there were 26 members. That number now exceeds 100. The women are dedicated to volunteer service at the Kahl Home.

Members assist with weekly and monthly resident events. That includes arts and crafts, bingo, birthday parties, and Christmas projects.

Resident June Berry always looks forward to their weekly courtesy call. She says the CSB ladies are kind and helpful.

The volunteers work alongside the Carmelite Sisters and staff. Volunteers who live in both Iowa and Illinois. On top of resident activities, the women of the service board also manage Cinderella Cellar. That is a resale shop loated in Davenport. All proceeds benefit the Kahl Home.
