Davenport House Fire Called "Suspicious"

Posted: Updated:

Two adults were taken to the hospital after being removed from a house fire that officials are now calling suspicious in nature. Firefighters were called to the two-story home in the 2600 block of East 50th Street around nine Wednesday morning.

Crime scene tape surrounds the property and evidence markers have been placed in the yard.

According to authorities, a man and a woman were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. KWQC-TV6 has confirmed that they were admitted to University Hospitals in Iowa City, but information on their conditions is not being released.

Fire officials say they are still investigating and don't expect to release any more information until Thursday.
