On Thursday morning, December 6, 2012, a Wheatland, Iowa volunteer firefighter was on his way to work when he spotted a fire.

According to Wheatland Fire Chief, Pat Stewart, the firefighter observed smoke at the former Mac's Triangle restaurant, located at 104 West Lincolnway in Wheatland.

By the time the fire department arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from the single story wood framed structure as well as flames in the basement.

According to reports, the Wheatland firefighters were assisted at the scene by Calamus and Lowden Volunteer Fire Departments, Wheatland Ambulance, and the Clinton County Sheriff's Office.

Chief Stewart says the Iowa State Fire Marshal's Office was called to assist in the investigation as to the cause and origin of the fire.
