PREVIOUS STORY:

A man is found dead in a Davenport farm field, and police are calling it suspicious.

A white male between the ages of 35 to 45 was found dead in a farm field entrance off of Utah Avenue south of Telegraph Road in Davenport around 1:30 Saturday morning.

Police say a Scott County Deputy noticed something suspicious in the farm field entrance and went to investigate.  The deputy discovered the body lying on the ground.

The Davenport Police Department was notified and patrol officers, detectives and evidence techs responded. Police say because the body had visible trauma and the environmental circumstances, a full fledged death investigation was started.

Neighbors say the road was blocked off for hours and they could see officers searching the area with flashlights.  Neighbors say they also saw a truck being pulled out of the farm field Saturday morning and that officers were on the scene until about 8:00 AM.

Police say they believe they know who the victim is in this case, but are not yet releasing a name.  An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Police are asking anyone who traveled Utah Avenue Friday or early Saturday morning to please call if you noticed anything suspicious.  You can reach the Criminal Investigations Division at 563-326-6154.
