At least one student had to be taken to the hospital after a bizarre accident in the West High School parking lot. According to witnesses, a car collided with an SUV causing the vehicle to flip onto its top and slide across the parking lot. It all came as a surprise to Sandi Hansen, who was parked, waiting to pick up a student, when the SUV came sliding toward her silver car.

"I saw this car flipped over coming at me, so I said a quick prayer, because I was in the car that he would stop, stopped inches from my car. So I am relieved."

According to Davenport Community School District spokesperson Dawn Saul, one student driver was taken to the hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries. The other driver, also a student, might be taken to the hospital to be evaluated. All parents have been notified.
