Update: Harrison Street between 15th and 14th Streets is now open to two lanes of traffic.

DAVENPORT, Iowa - A water line break has closed a section of one of the busiest streets in Davenport.

Harrison Street is closed from south of Locust to 14th.  Drivers should avoid the area or will need to follow detours until further notice.

Meanwhile,  drivers headed eastbound on Locus St. are also being squeezed into one lane between Brady St. and Main St.

Drivers headed north from Locust onto Brady St. need to follow the detour route or avoid the area. The left turn lane should be back open by Thursday, followed by all lanes on Friday.

Original report: The city says a contractor working on the new apartment building on Harrison between 14th and 15th streets hit an abandoned water service line. Iowa American Water Company and a plumbing company are working on repairs.

Drivers are asking to avoid that area until repairs are complete. There's no word on when that will be.
