It might just be another set of numbers for some, but this date, December 12th, 2012 is getting a lot of hype all around the world. There are many ways Quad Citians are marking 12-12-12, a once in a lifetime page on the calendar.
12-12-12 is a day not just for the number geeks and the superstitious. You may have done something out of the ordinary, like take a picture of the clock. During the noon hour a dozen 12-year old students at Rivermont Collegiate in Bettendorf rang the school's historic bell twelve times starting at 12:12 p.m.
"I think they will remember it and as life goes forward and similar days come about, special days, they'll say I remember what I did on 12-12-12," said Curtis Fee a social studies teacher.
From ringing bells to blowing out candles, on a historic date it's hard to be shy about celebrating your age. Some here at KWQC are sending well wishes to those in the 12-12-12 birthday club. There was a special phone call to News Director Beth Marsoun's brother.
"She told me your birthday is on 12-12-12 this year so you do something big," said Rich Marsoun.
It's also a big day in the delivery room at local hospitals.  Little Orralynn Smith couldn't wait for her parents to get to the hospital.  She came into the world at home at, you guessed it, 12:12 on the dot. "she was supposed to be born on Saturday and just couldn't wait," said mother Ashton Kettering.
From newborns to newlyweds. Larry and Kim Hamby said the numbers just fit to say their "I dos" Wednesday, after being together for 12 years. "My friend even said when she looked at her watch when we were doing the vows it was 12:12," said Kim.
"I'm not superstitious at all," said Larry. "We'll never forget our anniversary," added his wife.
Whether it's a day to celebrate your favorite quarterback or throw a giant event like the 12-12-12 Sandy Relief Concert, once the clock strikes 12 midnight another triple date won't come around for nearly a century. The next time we'll see a repeated date like this will be January 1st, 2101.
