Investigators with the Rock Island Fire Department are working on two fires that broke out in Rock Island Monday night, December 17, 2012.

Traveling between the two locations won't be difficult for the investigators either, as both fires happened less than a block apart.

The first call came in around 9:00 p.m. for a garage fire in the 500 block of 23rd street.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about an hour. Officials say there is substantial damage to the garage and cars inside.

About 20 minutes later, around 9:20 p.m., a second call came in for another garage fire just a block away.

Firefighters were called this time to the 500 block of 22nd street in Rock Island. Officials say this fire wasn't as serious, and firefighters were able to control it faster.

Assistant Chief, Jeff Yerkey says they are getting help to locate a cause of the fires.

"We do have the police canvassing the neighborhood helping us with the investigation."

No one was hurt in either fire. Stay tuned to KWQC TV6 and kwqc.com for further information.
