Edgington Presbyterian Church has survived the test of time. This year, the church is celebrating its 175th anniversary. The church was founded in 1837, and those early settlers met in a log cabin.

Some things have changed over the years. Today, the congregation continues to worship in a church which was built in 1896. At that time, the cost to build the church was about five thousand dollars.

Each Sunday, the church bell tolls, calling people to worship. Many of the members have attended services at the church for decades. One regular is 104 year old Grace Kaiser. She has attended Edgington Presbyterian since 1954. She is nicknamed Amazing Grace!

Kathy Stegmiller was baptised in the church on Christmas Eve, 1955. Her father, Reverend Alfred Behrer, was pastor at the church for forty years. Kathy says the people in the church and community became his family.

Current Pastor Zachary Hopkins  says the church is a place where people know they are loved. The focus has always been on serving God and community. A 175 year legacy. A church which has certainy survived the test of time! A beacon of light in Rock Island County!
