An escaped prisoner had authorities on the lookout near I-74 and Woodhull, Ill., on Tuesday afternoon, December 18, 2012.

Woodhull police said an inmate was being transferred by an Ogle County Officer when he escaped.

According to reports, the inmate faked that he was sick. When the deputy got out to check on him, he was knocked over and the inmate ran off.

The inmate was wearing leg chains but was able to work his way out of them, according to the officer.

Police say the inmate was on the run for only 15 to 20 minutes. Alwood High School was put on a precautionary lockdown for five minutes.
