Firefighters have put out a fire at an apartment building in Eldridge. The call came in around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon directing firefighters to 121 W. Spring St. in Eldridge.

Fire officials say the fire started in a second floor apartment that was undergoing maintenance. It then spread to the attic.

It was a four unit building and 12 people are now displaced. The American Red Cross of the Quad Cities is meeting with families to offer assistance.
