A single vehicle crash in Whiteside County sent one woman to the hospital early Sunday morning, December 30, 2012.

The Whiteside County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene on Crosby Road (Rt. 78), a quarter mile north of Bunker Hill Road in rural Morrison, Ill., around 6:00 a.m.

Deputies say the 1991 Ford Explorer, driven by 25-year-old Jacque L McCallister of Morrison, was traveling southbound on Crosby Road when it left the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire.

According to the report, McCallister was rescued from the vehicle by a passerby prior to the arrival of emergency responders.

The sheriff's department says McCallister was transported to Morrison Hospital by Morrison Ambulance and transferred to St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Ill. where McCallister is listed in critical condition.

The Accident remains under investigation by the Whiteside County Sheriff's Department.
