New Year's Day.
Time to start on those resolutions. Maybe start that diet?
Maybe tomorrow because New Year's Day is a day for football, friends, and cribbage.
Matt Mooney was born and raised in Bettendorf - and since he was young, the first day of a new year was about football and family.
Now, he continues that tradition with 3 of his best friends right in his home town.
4 men meet in a booth at Sportsfans in Bettendorf on New Year's Day every year to enjoy the day and move a few pegs on the cribbage board.
"First of all, I'm just glad to make it another year as I get a little older," said Mooney. "But I'm thankful for family, friends, football and having a beer every once in awhile."
And for this foursome, getting a chance to watch their favorite teams on a day full of college football isn't so bad either.
"Well it would be a lot better if Iowa was playing, that's for doggone sure but I'm still a Midwest guy. I like cheering for these teams."
So instead of watching the Hawks today, this group of friends will have to settle for a yearly game of cribbage.
