Police have arrested a man in connection with two bank robberies in Mercer County.

DeAngelo Dixon is charged with two counts of aggravated robbery plus battery and unlawful restraint. The charges stem from the November hold-up of the Union Federal Savings and Loan in Viola, Ill., and a month later, at the First Community Bank in Sherrard.

Police say DeAngelo was armed with a gun at both robberies, and in the Sherrard case, he's also accused of punching a woman who was walking down the sidewalk. During the incident in Viola, he's accused of holding a woman against her will.

Despite the arrest, Viola police and the Mercer County Sheriff's Office continue to ask for more information from the public.
