Update 1-14-13: The person whose body was found in the 300 block of E. Iowa St. in Eldridge Jan. 11 has been identified. According to the police chief, the 59-year-old man from Eldridge died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. The investigation has been concluded.

ELDRIDGE, Iowa - Police are investigating the discovery of a body Friday around the 300 block of East Iowa Street.  The person's identity is still unknown.  Foul play is not suspected. 

Police issued this statement Saturday morning:

The body that was discovered on 01-11-13 in the 300 block of E Iowa St. has been identified by the Eldridge Police Dept.  The body was discovered around 4PM by a resident that was walking in the area.  At this time no foul play is suspected as the investigation continues.  The name of the victim is not being released at this time until family members can be contacted.  No further information is a available at this time.
