Burlington, IA (January 15, 2013) – The Los Angeles Angels have announced their minor league coaching staffs for the 2013 season. Jamie Burke becomes the 35th Bees manager since joining the Midwest League in 1962.

A native of Roseburg, OR, Burke was originally drafted by the Angels in the 9th round in 1993 out of Oregon St. He played one year in the Midwest League for Cedar Rapids in 1994. Burke made his Major League debut with the Angels in 2001, and played 191 big league games in eight seasons with the Angels, White Sox, Mariners, and Nationals, primarily as a catcher.

Burke retired from baseball after the 2010 season and became the manager for Cedar Rapids last year.

Trevor Wilson will take over as the Bees pitching coach. Wilson had an eight-year career in the Majors from 1988 to 1998. A left-handed pitcher, his best year came in 1991 with the Giants when he went 13-11 with a 3.56 ERA in 202 innings pitched. Wilson is one of only 46 pitchers in Major League history to throw a nine-pitch, three-strikeout half-inning. This will be his 13th year as a pitching coach and sixth in the Angels organization. Wilson spent last season with the Arkansas Travelers, 2011 with the Cedar Rapids Kernels, and 2008-10 with the Tempe Angels.

Former first round draft pick, Nathan Haynes, will serve as the hitting coach in 2013. The Oakland, CA native played 60 games in 2007 and 2008 for the Angels and Rays. Primarily a centerfielder, Haynes played 854 career minor league games and had a career .278 batting average. He has spent the past two years in the Angels organization as pitching coaches for the Orem Owlz and Tempe Angels.

Chris Wells will serve as the Athletic Trainer while Joe Griffin will be the Strength and Conditioning Coach.
