Woman killed by train in DeWitt, Iowa

UPDATE: The Clinton County Sheriff's Department has identified the victim as Kristina Marie Johnson, 21, of Davenport.  Arrangements are pending and will be announced by Schultz Funeral Home of DeWitt.

DEWITT, Iowa – A woman was struck and killed by a train Friday night at the railroad crossing on 300th Avenue in east DeWitt.  The Clinton County Sheriff says the woman was hit by a west-bound Union Pacific train at around 10 PM.

Investigators describe the victim as a white adult female who was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her name is not yet being released.

The body will be transported to the Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office in Ankeny for an autopsy.
