A Davenport man accused of going on a rampage with his car has pleaded guilty to murder charges. Jeremy Graves, 25, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for 2nd degree murder.
On September 26th, police were called to the 900 block of 15th St. where Graves was said to be fighting with family members over the custody of a child. He got into his 2005 Buick and started spinning the car around in the middle of the street. When police arrived, they saw Graves drive toward a group of people standing in the street. That's when Graves struck a 43-year-old woman and ran over her with his car. The woman died at the hospital.
Graves tried to drive away, but crashed into a parked trailer. Police chased him on foot and after a struggle, police say he punched an officer in the face before he was arrested.
Graves originally faced charges of first degree murder, aggravated battery, driving under the influence, resisting a police officer, threatening a public official and driving on a suspended license. With his guilty plea, all other charges were dropped.
