Muscatine is among the six Iowa communities named a Blue Zone demonstration site. This is part of a program designed to reduce obesity.

Sioux City, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Oskaloosa and Marion were also given the honor.

For two years, a team will work with the communities to develop an effective public health policy.

Governor Terry Branstad says the program can help reach his goal of Iowa becoming the healthiest state in the nation by 2016.
