Do like to run over holes in the road while driving?

...Chances are you answered no to that.

And if you did, you would have a problem with the state of Interstate 88 heading towards Sterling, IL.

In a 15 mile stretch - more than 40 potholes were counted - varying in size.

But, the Illinois DOT does have plans to fix it... Sometime.

The project to fix the stretch of road between the 80-88 interchange and the Whiteside County Line was put on a 6 year plan to fix in 2010.

But as of now, the estimated $13.3 million project hasn't started yet and there isn't a start date in sight yet.

And that just isn't good enough for people who have to travel that stretch of road every day.

Tanya Spicer works at a Subway just off I-88. She's been driving on it for three years now - and it's costing her a lot of money.

"I have gone through two sets of tires and I've worked here for three years."

Her co-worker, Gina Massingill, agrees:

"It's a bunch of potholes. The whole left side of the highway is awful. It's like a rivet. If you don't scoot over, you're gonna get thrown in one lane or another."

And the problem gets worse in the Winter, she explains, when snow and ice cover the potholes and cracks in the road.

"When you hit a pothole it really takes off. It's really dangerous when you're coming around a corner, hit the pothole and still get a little slide."
