The Quad Cities River Bandits are alerting QCA businesses that a company they are not affiliated with is involved in an advertising scam.
A company calling itself Sports Schedules is contacting companies in the Quad Cities area, posing as having a relationship with either the River Bandits or Minor League Baseball, and selling packages including advertising on schedule posters and air time on select cable networks in the Quad Cities area.
A spokesperson for the River Bandits says "no such company is authorized by either the River Bandits or the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues to sell any advertising or produce any posters with team schedules. If you are contacted by any such company, call the River Bandits (563-324-3000) or the Office of the State Attorney General of Iowa or Illinois immediately with that information."
The River Bandits say the front office staff of the Quad Cities River Bandits are the only individuals selling advertisement in the River Bandits' ballpark, as well as advertising in publications, pocket schedule, promotional material or any other items associated with the Quad Cities River Bandits baseball club.
