A former employee of Ashford College in Clinton, Iowa is being charged with stealing from the school.

Police say that Stacey Lynn Powers was employed at Ashford as the Student Development and Activities Coordinator. She held that position from August of 2008 until she was placed on administrative leave on April 27, 2012.

According to the University, Powers used the Ashford university Student Government account to make unauthorized withdraws and unauthorized debit card purchases in excess of $10,000.

Police say the withdraws and purchases were for personal use and not for University business.

Powers is being charged with first degree theft.
