Local Students Use Lego Skills In Competition

Updated:

Five junior high Trinity Lutheran students are playing with Legos in a much different way.

"The World Changers" will be heading to this year's World Festival in St. Louis in April for their innovative skills. An autonomous robot is on their list of creations.

Forty-three states and 46 countries will compete in the competitions.

"The competitions are normally are usually really big and normally the table would actually have another table up against it," Alex Huettman said. "It's really cool cause you can, if you're doing it, you get to see the other person's robot too. At the same time."

As part of the first Lego League the team received the overall champion's award among 72 teams at the state championship at Iowa State University.
