They are retirees. A former pharmacist, teacher, master plumber and construction pipe fitter. Put the four together and you've got A Touch of Fun Quartet.

Terry Tingwald, Mike Jund, Dick Sabbe and Stan Brown specialize in Barbershop Harmony Music. The four men have been singing as a group for about twenty two years. The quartet is associated with The Davenport Chordbusters and Quartets.

Recently, A Touch of Fun put on quite a performance for an audience at Ridgecrest Village. The folks there enjoyed listening to tunes from Johnny Mathis, Bing Crosby, and the Mills Brothers, among others.

Dick Sabbe sings lead, and also loves to joke and interact with the audience. Mike sings bass, Terry is a tenor, and Stan sings baritone. Tingwald and Brown were also high school classmates.

The roots of Barbershop Harmony Music stretch back to church music, minstrel shows, and vaudeville. In the1920's, four part harmony was quite popular all over the United States. It has been described as music which is pleasing to the ears and invigorating to the soul.

Barbershop is also sung in several foreign countries, including Australia, Great Britain, Germany, The Netherlands and other countries. The Davenport Chordbusters Chorus began in March of 1952 and performs at many community events.
