It's dancing, singing, and acting all wrapped in one. This weekend, about twenty schools from several states will participate in the Great River Show Choir Invitational at the Adler Theatre in Davenport.
Davenport North High School's show choir is Northside Establishment. They practice fancy footwork, develop stage presence, and share the spotlight. Sometimes a little bit of attitude goes a long way.
The show choirs will be judged in a number of categories, including song, dance, choreography, and expression. Each school has about twenty five minutes to perform.
Ryan Riewerts is the Director of Northside Establishment. He says one of the neatest things is that show choir has allowed many students to blossom and find that love and passion in their life for music. Riewerts adds that show choir members come from different backgrounds and they have to be able to work together as a team.
Show choir also features band members, and a crew which helps with costume changes.
Northside Eastablishment has made the finals in all three competitions that they have attended this school year.
The event runs through Saturday evening at the Adler. There is an admission charge.
