UPDATE: The Rock Island County Coroner has identified the victim as 36-year-old Donovan Stephens of Colona, Ill.
The coroner says Stephens died of traumatic injuries but the investigation is on going.
ORIGINAL STORY: A man is dead after a snowmobile accident in East Moline, Ill., early Wednesday morning, February 27, 2013.
Rock Island County deputies were called to 12th Avenue North, just west of 193rd Street North, at 1:43 a.m.
Deputies say a snowmobile driven by a 36-year-old man from Colona was headed eastbound on 12th Avenue North when the driver lost control and entered the ditch on the north side of the street. They then say the snowmobile rolled over onto the driver.
The driver was transported from the scene and pronounced dead at the hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of his family.
The crash remains under investigation by the Rock Island Sheriff's Department.
