The Senate will vote on a bill to avert the sequester today but it is not expected to pass.

Officials on both sides of Pennsylvania Avenue agree that sequestration seems all but inevitable at this point.

Congresswoman Cheri Bustos spoke today on her own frustrations with the current proceedings saying even in the eleventh hour lawmakers should be working toward a solution.

"We need to take a laser focus on this and we're not doing that," Bustos said. "I think this is inexcusable that we would be sent home again without having a plan in place to stop the sequester."

Bustos was referring to the House being excused today without a solution in place something she called the cuts "budgetary insanity."

If sequestration does go into effect, furloughs will start in about a month.
