Doctor Bruce Storey is the Director of Educational Services at Black Hawk College. He is also a baseball fanatic. A baseball historian from Eldridge.
He is a huge Saint Louis Cardinals fan, and one room in his home is a tribute to the Redbirds and Stan The Man Musial! He has a baseball figurine of Musial from the early 1960's. A baseball with Musial's autograph. Storey's uncle got that autograph when he happened to run into Musial at an airport, years ago.
There are Cardinal Championship Pennants hanging on his wall. Several pictures of Musial and of Busch Stadium.
Storey also has baseball cards that go back decades. His first baseball glove was an Al Kaline model. That glove is about fifty years old. He still has it.
Storey's shelf is filled with baseball books. Lots of statistics and interesting information. Storey points out that Musial had 1815 hits on the road, and the exact number at home. Most years Musial struck out less than fifty times a season. Incredible!
Storey was a catcher in high school. He says baseball is a slice of Americana at its best. You've got the star players, those who are struggling, and the rookies coming up.
Bruce Storey has made about sixty presentations to baseball fans in the Quad City area. He's always more than willing to spend some time, Talking Baseball!
