The Princeton fire chief said that fire that ripped through a business is likely a total loss.

The fire started around 1:30 this morning at the Habanero's Restaurant in downtown Princeton. About 12 or 13 other fire departments responded for help.

"The first engine on the scene encountered some extreme smoke conditions from the building," Chief Chuck Woolley said. "When they tried to enter they got into the building about 15 feet and the conditions changed to where they had to end up backing out."

After that, they started a defensive attack on the fire.

Several hours later smoke could be seen coming from the building again where witnesses said crews have returned to the scene twice.

The Fire Chief said there is so much damage that it might be difficult to determine a cause but the state Fire Marshal will investigate.

A couple of nearby buildings did get some smoke and water damage. There were no injuries.
