Nicholas Sheley's attorney has filed for a change in venue for his next trial.

He said too many people in Whiteside County are familiar with the case and it's too difficult to find a fair and impartial jury.

"It's unlikely that the case will be tried in Whiteside County given everything that we know now," Defense Attorney Jeremy Karlin said.

Convicted murderer Nicholas Sheley is pleading not guilty to charges in the deaths of four Rock Falls residents.

He has also requested a jury trial for the case. This is the second murder trial for Sheley in Whiteside County.

He was already sentenced to life in prison for the murder of 93-year-old Russell Reed of Sterling.

He is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of a Galesburg man.
