As the action heats up in Des Moines for the Iowa State Basketball Tournament, the Pleasant Valley Spartans are cheering... for the cheerleaders!

Six members of the PV cheerleading squad earned a trip to the tourney to perform on the all-state squad.

That's pretty impressive when you consider more than 250 cheerleaders tried out from across the state and only 31 were selected.

This success gives PV the distinction of being the most represented school on the 2013 squad.

This years Spartan contingent includes two returning members from the 2012 all-state squad. Senior Sara Judickas and junior Ashley Parry.

Joining Judickas and Parry are seniors Breanna Bonnes and Courtney Bright, as well as sophomore Haley Hawbaker.

The all-state squad will perform at half time during each of the three semi-final games on Friday, March 8, 2013.
