The Quad City area will be well-represented at the Iowa National Geographic Bee in Ankeny on April 5. A sixth-grader from Trinity Lutheran School in Davenport earned a spot in the competition.

According to a news release, Nora Rudzinski, received one of the top 100 scores on a qualifying test taken by fourth-through eighth-grade students in Iowa. The 10-year-old is Trinity's first state geography bee qualifier in 10 years.

Another 6th grade student, Nick Nahnybida, will also compete against other 4th - 8th grade students. He goes to school at Walcott Intermediate.

Rece Vining, a 5th grade student at Morning Star Academy in Bettendorf also advanced to the state competition.

The winner of the Iowa State Geography Bee wins $100 and a spot at the national bee in Washington D.C. on May 20-22.
