We got an inside look at Bettendorf High School's new additions before this Friday's open house.

The $14.1-million project included a new library, students commons area, and a performing arts center that seats 840.

"Our current auditorium seated less than 400 students so we could barely get one class in there," Bettendorf High School Principal Jimmy Casas said. "And so now with the improvements and being able to have a 840 seat auditorium will also to do quite a number of things. The fact that we have light set, an orchestra pit, all those things."

Construction for the project started in July of 2011.

A new district administration building was also built on the southwest corner of the high school.
