Inflatable Colon Teaches About Cancer

Updated:

To educate people about colon cancer, Genesis Cancer Care Institute has a special display.

It's a giant inflatable colon that shows the importance getting screened and catching colon cancer early. It's very treatable in its early stages, but because it's often caught later, it's the second cause of cancer-related deaths in Iowa.

"The main thing to point out is colorectal screenings should start at age 50 or earlier if somebody has had a family history, personal history, or history of polyps," Genesis R.N. Kim Turner said.

March is also National Colorectal Cancer Awareness month.
