Rock Island city leaders are looking into liquor licenses tonight.

They are working on clarifying categories for the different facilities that sell alcohol so each would fit into the right area for it's business.

For example, large grocery stores are currently grouped with convenience stores which could make it confusing when grocery stores want to host a wine tasting.

"We did create a new category because we had some restaurants that wanted wine and beer only," Rock Island Mayor Dennis Pauley said. "They didn't want to do the hard liquor. So we created that category. And that's a little cheaper than the other options."

Restaurants now have the choice to sell alcohol until 2 or 3am but they must have still have their menu available and can't close down to just be a bar.

All other time options for places with liquor licenses remain the same.
