Update: According to Davenport police, two cars were headed eastbound in the 1800 block of 53rd St. when a 2002 Monte Carlo driven by 24-year-old Ryan Ball of East Moline, Ill., hit the left rear of the other car, a 2012 Honda Accord. The Monte Carlo then crossed the centerline and hit an oncoming Ford F-150. Ball died at the scene.

The driver of the Honda, Monica Forret of Davenport, refused treatment. The driver of the Ford, Wenhua Guo and a passenger, Di Zhang, both of Davenport, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. on 53rd street just east of the intersection with Eastern Avenue.

One of the cars front end was smashed in. The other two also have serious damage.

The crash remains under investigation.
