Wednesday is the first day of spring, but you wouldn't really know it from the weather. After another round of late-winter snow Sunday, and sub-zero wind chills on Monday and Tuesday, a Quad City business that is usually closed for the season is expanding its operation.

Snowstar says it plans to be open this coming weekend, March 23, 24. That's the latest date of operation at the ski area in Andalusia since 1984.

Plus, while there is still a significant base, operators say they will also be making snow on Wednesday, which would be the first time that has ever happened on the first day of spring.
