Wednesday, March 20, 2013 happens to be the first day of spring, but that's not stopping the operators at Snowstar Winter Sports Park in Andalusia, Ill. They'll be making snow in preparation of one more weekend of business.

This will be the first time this has ever happened on the first day of spring. The business plans to be open this coming weekend and that's the latest date of operation at the ski area since 1984.

After another round of late-winter snow on Sunday and sub-zero wind chills on Monday and Tuesday, Snowstar is actually expanding its operation.

Last year, it was a completely different story.

Due to warm temperatures, it was difficult for operators to create snow and keep it from melting. This pushed back their opening date weeks and ended their season early.

This year, the slopes have been packed with skiers, snowboarders and tubers.
