A Home in rural Osco, Illinois was most likely destroyed by fire and the efforts to put it out.

Firefighters were called to 11500 block of N. 1500th Ave. around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon after the family smelled smoke. The family got out safely, but the fire chief says the home is probably a total loss.

They believe it started in the attic and spread to the second floor of the home. Despite difficulty getting water to the rural location and high winds that fanned the flames, firefighters were able to contain the fire to the second floor. Unfortunately, the chief says there is extensive water damage throughout the house.
