WASHINGTON – The U.S. Marshals Service has listed the last remaining real property owned by convicted former comptroller of Dixon, Ill., Rita Crundwell – her vacation home in Englewood, Fla.
The 2,304-square-foot property has three bedrooms, two baths and an elevator and is listed with a realty company for $254,900. The Marshals will pay a 5.49 percent commission (less than the customary six percent) upon sale of the property with the realty company. The listing is on the Web at http://tinyurl.com/crundwell-house.
Crundwell's four other real properties, all in Illinois, sold for a total of $3.4 million via an unsolicited offer process. The Marshals have recouped approximately $9.5 million in net proceeds from the sale of Crundwell's assets. Those proceeds are being held in escrow pending further court proceedings on restitution to the City of Dixon.
Crundwell, 60, was one of the leading breeders of quarter horses in the U.S. She pleaded guilty to a federal fraud charge in U.S. District Court in Northern Illinois Nov. 14 and was sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison Feb. 14.
