Loft living has become popular in downtown Davenport and soon, tenants will have another option.

The old Wonder Bread building on Davenport's River Drive has been sold to developer Dan Dolan for $375,000.

Dolan says he plans to use the 100,000 square foot space for loft apartments, commercial retail, and light industrial space, with room for indoor parking.

The building has been empty since Hostess closed the distribution center a few years ago.

"When we look at this, it's to me the excitement of having a landmark building on the eastern side as a gate way to the city."

"To have these opportunities to do the adaptive re-use. Taking a big industrial building and breaking it up into components."

Dolan says it will take about a year to come up with designs and engineering for the project.
