Bettendorf Police are asking for help from the public after a man was attacked by a dog. It happened Sunday, March 24, 2013, in the 2400 block of Crestview Drive.

Police say the man was out walking his dog when a loose dog ran toward them and bit the man on the face. The man suffered punctures to his nose.

Now, they need to know if the loose dog was vaccinated for rabies, which could be difficult.

Reports say the dog wasn't wearing a collar and it ran away after the attack.

The dog is described as black or brown short-haired, about 75 to 80 pounds and appeared to be a rottweiler or pit bull mix. The victim reported he had not seen the dog in the neighborhood before.

Anyone with information that may help is asked to call Bettendorf Police.
