UPDATE

From East Moline Police

On 03/26/13 at approximately 2:05pm, East Moline Police Department responded to Midwest Underground Inc. 3150 5th Avenue, East Moline for a theft in progress. 

The suspect fled in a silver vehicle after workers called the police.  Responding officers located the silver vehicle at Morton Drive and 13th Street.  The vehicle fled and was lost by officers. 

A witness called and reported that the vehicle was westbound on 12th Avenue.  The witness called back and said that the vehicle had crashed in the 700 block of 12th Avenue and was on fire. 

It was also reported that the driver ran from the area.  Officers pursued the suspect on foot and located him at 1201 7th Street.  The suspect was identified as Kwanzaa Austin (M/B 01/21/1993).

Austin is being held at the Rock Island County jail for Felony Theft and Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding.
