UPDATE

Three arrests have been made in connection with the death of Lee Albert Jump.

Arrest warrants were obtained for Gene E. Whitney of Silvis for 1st degree murder, Shane M. Howard of Rock Island for 1st degree murder and concealment of homicidal death and Terry J. Engels of Silvis for 1st degree murder and concealment of homicidal death.

On March 27, 2013 at 9:54 am, Officers responded to the 300 block of 31st Avenue in reference to a check welfare. Officers subsequently located the body of Mr. Jump who was deceased.  It was later determined that Mr. Jump had sustained a single gunshot wound to the head.

All three subjects are currently in custody at the Rock Island County Jail.

Update:  The Rock Island County Coroner has released the name of the homicide victim. 

He says 43 year old Lee A. Jump died as a result of a traumatic head injury.  The autopsy was performed in Rockford, Illinois. 

Police are treating the case as a homicide. They say there are no new development in the investigation but detectives continue to follow leads.

Original: Authorities say a body was found near the 100 block of 31st Avenue in Rock Island, Ill. around 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2013.

According to the Rock Island Police, the body is a 43 year old white male.

He was found fully clothed in an open field - that is property of the city of Rock Island. 

According to Deputy Chief Foy - the body was found by a city employee who was checking on some large dumpsters that are on the property.

He spotted the body next to them and called police. 

The victim was pronounced dead on scene. 

According to Foy, the body had no signs of trauma or struggle, but foul play is suspected.

It is being treated as a homicide investigation right now. 

The name of the victim is not being released but we do know he is a resident of the QCA.

Investigators say an autopsy to determine a cause of death and an identity should be available on March 28, 2013.
