The devastating fire early Wednesday morning in rural Sherrard, Ill., took the lives of 5 people, including 4 children. The tragic loss has left many in the Quad City area wondering what they can do.

There are several businesses in Sherrard area that are accepting donations. And, a benefit has just been scheduled to help one of the families that lost loved ones.

Spellious Tae Kwon Do is hosting the "Harker Family Fundraiser" to assist with funeral expenses for daughters Holli and Jessica. That is set for next Sunday, April 7th, at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church on 13th Street in Moline, from 4 to 8.

Meantime, in New Windsor, K.J.'s cafe, Dan's Pub and The Curry Comb hair salon will have donation jars that customers can contribute to.

A fund has also been established at 1st Community Bank in Sherrard for the Turner family, Viager family and the Harker family. Monetary donations can be made at either the Sherrard or Aledo locations of 1st Community Bank.
