A contract dispute has left eight employees locked out from their workplace in Eldridge, Iowa. Members of Teamsters Union 371 say the contract with King's Materials expired Sunday at midnight. Spokesman Howard Spoon says the company wanted to reduce its contribution to their 401k retirement plan. He says workers rejected the contract proposal and expected to continue to negotiate when the company locked them out.

Company President Charles Rohde tells KWQC that along with changes in the 401k plan, the company offered a wage increase and to continue paying full health premiums along with other benefits. He says it's up to the union to initiate further negotiations.

King's provides concrete materials including blocks used for landscaping.
