New Security Measures At Clinton Co. Courthouse

New security equipment is in place and ready to greet visitors at the Clinton County Courthouse for the first time tomorrow. Now all visitors that walk in the main entrance will have to pass through this metal detector. Their personal items will also go under an X-ray machine to check for weapons. These upgrades are part of an effort to tighten security for the safety of anyone in the building, from employees to people on trial.

'We've had security here at the courthouse, but never at the front door," said Sheriff Rick Lincoln. "We've had signs telling people they could not bring weapons into the building decided it was time, with the way things are in the world today that we should add this equipment in."

The new security machines cost more than $30,000. That money comes from the jail room and board fund from fees inmates pay to the county.
