Town Hall Meeting For West Carroll School District

West Carroll School District leaders and parents will get the chance to speak out on Thursday night, April 4, 2013.

The district is hosting a town hall meeting and has invited State Senator Tim Bivins and Rep. Jim Sacia.

The town hall meeting stems from last month's decision to eliminate 12 teaching positions from the district.

The decision was made in an effort to cut millions of dollars from next year's budget.

Senator Bivins yesterday says there is a lot of blame on the state for negligent spending. He says parents in the district have a right to be upset.

"When you start losing jobs and programs are effected, people get emotional and upset about that, and rightly so. They are not the lone ranger and they're not going through this by themselves because a lot of school districts are going through the exact same thing where we have to lay off teachers and cut programs."

The town hall meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. and will be held at the middle school.
